Juan Diego vs Summit Academy, Game Summary

This was one of the most exciting games, that we watched this season.  Actually, it was the most exciting game.  Two great teams, coaches, and fan bases; faced off, in what will be one of the more memorable games of the 2017 football season.  Here are the players who stood out to us:

Summit Academy HS

WR Gavin Davey – The crafty receiver came up with some monster catches, against a solid Juan Diego defense; showing his big play ability. Davey barely missed a catch on the North end zone that would’ve been sportscenter worthy.  Davey has shown tremendous growth in the past year, and has made himself a legitimate college prospect.  We are looking forward to seeing how he finishes this football season. Davey is as talented as any receiver that I’ve evaluated this year.

QB Hayden Reynolds – This was our first opportunity to watch Reynolds and we came away very impressed.   Reynolds played as good of a first half, as any QB we have evaluated this season.  I liked the way he directed his offense in the run and pass game.  He also had some good scrambles out of the pocket.  Reynolds is someone colleges need to take a hard look at.    We will continue evaluating him.  Another performance like this one, once the playoffs start and he will put himself into an elite group of QBs.

LS Jesse Hooper – We didn’t have the chance to evaluate Hooper the way we wanted to.  Partly because his team hardly needed his long snapping services, for over half the game.  We will continue evaluating Hooper.

OL Parker Blake – Blake had a tough matchup against a D1 bound lineman, and definitely held his own.  He played a solid game, from what we were able to see.  We’ll continue evaluating Blake to see how he matches up against the Elite centers in Utah.

Juan Diego HS

QB Zachary Hoffman – Hoffman was the most impressive player on the field, according to Coach Mac (former Utah and Weber State Head Coach).  The Juan Diego QB can flat out run; showing why many also believe he can play wide receiver in college. Hoffman displayed an ability to brilliantly lead his offense, while showcasing his big play ability.   Coach Mac thinks Hoffman will be a good fit in the Mountain West.

DL Chinonso Opara – The big man from Juan Diego has the size D1 schools dream about.  He is new to football, and has shown a great deal of growth.  Oparra made a few plays on Friday that showed his potential and upside.   We are looking forward to seeing how Oparra progresses on the D1 level.
