2018 D1 Sleepers – QB’s

We’ve had the opportunity to evaluate many of the top players, in the state of Utah.  This list is not about who had the best stats.  This list is about who we believe will excel on the Division 1 level.

Here are the QB – D1 Sleepers:

No. 7: Zachary Hoffman (Juan Diego) 6’1″ 185 lbs

Hoffman is a talented athlete, that excelled playing QB in an option offense.  We feel like he could also play QB at the next level, in a zone-read scheme. We feel like he’s a no brainer of any of the academy schools.

No. 6: Will Dana (Alta HS) 6’1″ 190 lbs

Dana has some excellent game film.  We feel like he’s next level, and should definitely be getting recruited harder than what he is.  His film speaks for itself. Take a hard look at this talented QB.

No. 5: Carsen Chappell (Spanish Fork HS) 6’2″ 190 lbs

We were able to watch Chappell; play against eventual state champ. Orem HS.  Chappell played a great game, while being under pressure the majority of the night.  Chappell is a talented player, that needs to be evaluated by every school looking for a QB.

No. 4: Austin Bartholomew (Weber HS) 6’0″ 180 lbs

Bartholomew led a resurgent Weber HS program, with his solid and consistent play, from the quarterback position. This young man has all of the tools, to be an excellent college QB.  Bartholomew made some big time plays against the state’s top teams, and proved that he is every bit worthy of being on the list, as a D1 sleeper.  Bartholomew is a highly underrated athlete, that can take off at a moments notice for big plays.

No. 3: QB Alex Zettler (Brighton HS) 5’11” 180

This is where it really gets tough.  Zettler is a ball player. He could very well be the top QB on this list, on the D1 level in seasons to come. He played in an offense that had great success running the football, so he handed the ball of quite a bit.  In saying that, when he passed the ball, he showed why he’s a D1 caliber QB.  Zettler is a dual threat QB, that needs to be highly evaluated.  He’s a gamer, and has big time potential at the next level.

No. 2: QB Jacob Barben (Dixie HS) 6’0″ 175 lbs

It’s possible that Barben is the most accurate thrower in the state of Utah.  He can sling the ball anywhere on the field, with great accuracy.  We were blown away, when we evaluated this young man in person.  He’s truly gifted.  We were also impressed by the way he led his team (4A school) to victory over 6A power house, Lone Peak. Barben can play QB for any team in this region.  He’s a D1 caliber player.

No. 1: QB Bronson Barron (American Fork HS) 6’2″ 200 lbs

Bronson Barron is the most D1 ready QB that we’ve evaluated in quite some time.  It’s not the first time that we’ve said that, and it probably won’t be the last.  Barron is as talented as they come.  He has a rocket arm, mental toughness, and is a true leader.  We not only feel like he’s the top QB on the list; we also feel like he’s quite possibly the top QB, in the state of Utah.  Bronson Barron is a Power 5 QB.
