Utah D1 – Quarterback Preview

Here are the D1 caliber QB’s that we’ve been able to evaluate in person:

Top 2019 – D1 Caliber QB’s

Here are the top D1 caliber QB prospects in the state of Utah, that we’ve been able to evaluate in person:

(listed in alphabetical order, according to first name)

Bo DeVries, Ogden HS, 2019 – DeVries is considered to be the top 2019 pro style QB, in the state of Utah.  Coach Fred Graves (former NFL and Division 1 position coach) has said multiple times, that DeVries is D1 caliber QB, with great upside. DeVries was the MVP at Utah D1’s – Rising Stars.  We strongly believe that he would be a perfect fit for many D1 – FBS schools.

Cooper Legas, Orem HS, 2019 – The first time that I had the opportunity to evaluate Legas in person, was during a practice last October (2017). He looked really good throwing, and moving out of the pocket.  However, the biggest thing that stood out was his competitiveness during practice. I haven’t seen anything like it, in high school football.  Legas practices like it’s a game, every rep that I watched was like that.  He understands how to work, which is rare for a high school athlete.  Legas is one of the most impressive players that I have come across, in the 2019 class. He is a Power 5 caliber football player, based on his evaluations in person, and his game film.

Dallin Brown, Pine View HS, 2019 – We listed Brown as one of the top DB’s in the state.  He’s also one of the top QB and wide receiver prospects, as well. We love what he brings to the table versatility wise.  Brown was the MVP at the Southern Utah D1 Showcase. As we stated in the previous article; Brown is a D1 caliber football player, that can play for many Power 5 schools.

Dane Leituala, Taylorsville HS, 2019 – Coach Mac and Coach Graves have been high on Leituala for quite some time.  They both believe that he has all of the tools to be a successful quarterback on the D1 level.  After watching him at Rising Stars, and also watching his game film, I agree with them 100%. Leituala is built like a linebacker, but he is the overall one of the most gifted QBs in the state.  His game film strongly supports our observations.

Kael Atkinson, South Summit HS, 2019 – Atkinson is one of the top dual threat QBs in the state.  Many believe that is the top one, and his game film makes a strong argument supporting that.  Atkinson is a talent, and needs to be on D1 school’s radar.  He had a great showing at Rising Stars. It’s very possible that Atkinson could be listed as the top QB in this class, by the end of the season.

Top Underclassmen

Here are the top QB’s that are underclassmen.  We’ve been able to evaluate these players in person, and believe that they are Division 1 caliber football players.

(listed in alphabetical order, according to first name)

Cole Hagen, Corner Canyon HS, 2020 – Hagen showed flashes of brilliance, when he started last season, against Alta High School, as a sophomore . He led some impressive drives that game, that ultimately secured the win for his team.   Hagen is considered one of the top Division 1 prospects in the 2020 class.  He had a strong camp performances at the Northern Utah D1 Showcase, as well as Rising Stars.  He earned a D1 rating.

Cannon Coggins, Riverton HS, 2020 – Coggins is another returning starter, that had a promising year, as a sophomore.  Last season, he went up against many of the top teams in the state, and had impressive performances.  His best game might have been against powerhouse East High school.  Coggins greatly impressed the staff at Rising Stars, and earned a D1 rating.

DaiSean Cash, Hunter HS, 2020 – Cash is one of the most dangerous offensive players in the state, with his deadly passing and running skills.  Cash can hurt a defense either way, and is very comfortable doing so.  Cash is a legitimate D1 caliber QB.  He was a top performer at Rising Stars, as well as the Central Utah – D1 Showcase.
